Keep on reading for our various router tips, or jump ahead by clicking one of these links:

1. Move closer to your router

Our first tip is to simply move your smartphone or tablet, as well as your Catit PIXI Smart device, to right next to the wireless router, for an optimal Wi-Fi signal as you make the connection. Make sure your Catit PIXI Smart device and router are both plugged in.

2. Reboot the router

The easiest way to reboot the router is often to unplug the power supply, wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in again. Alternatively, please check your router’s settings or instruction manual.

3. Check your router’s connection approval settings

Is the Catit PIXI Smart device allowed to join the router just by entering the right SSID and password? Or is another type of approval required? This can be checked in your router’s instruction settings or manual.

4. Ensure the router’s Wi-Fi signal is 2.4 GHz

Catit PIXI Smart devices only support a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi signal, which means they aren’t able to connect to a 5 GHz signal. Most routers will automatically broadcast 2.4 GHz as well as 5GHz. If not, we recommend to refer to your router’s manual for more information.

Alternatively, here are a few things you could try:

If you have two separate SSIDs for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz:

  • please make sure your phone is connected to the 2.4 GHz network.
  • When the app asks for the Wi-Fi SSID and Password, please enter those of your 2.4 GHz SSID.

Try temporarily disabling the 5 GHz signal in the router settings while connecting to your Catit PIXI Smart device.

If you have a single SSID, it might help to split it in two separate SSIDs: one for 2.4 GHz and another for 5 GHz.
This can be done in the router settings. To access the router settings, browse to the url on the back of the router (username and password can also be found on the back of the router).

Important: As you split the SSID, make sure to give each SSID a different name.

5. Change your Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password

Only use letters, capitals and numbers, without any special characters. Make sure the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz SSIDs (if separate) have different names.

That concludes our list of tips.

As you try the above, please follow the steps in our App & Wi-Fi Quick Start Guide. Note that it can take up to 3 minutes for the app to finish connecting to your Catit PIXI Smart device. Once connected, the white Wi-Fi LED on your device will burn steadily without blinking.

If these steps did not help you establish a connection, we recommend to connect to a different Wi-Fi network (e.g. at a friend’s house) or smartphone operating system (Android / IOS) to rule out a device malfunctioning. If the situation persists, please get in touch with our customer service team.
