I am not able to share my device with someone else. What do I do?

You can only share a device with people that live in the same region as you, the different regions being America, Europe, China and India. The reason is that different regions use different data centers, but let’s not get too technical. When creating an account, make sure to check whether the region is set correctly. Once the account has been created, the set region can no longer be changed. If you do want to change the region, the only option is to delete said account and create a new one with the correct region.

Is the Catit PIXI Smart Feeder compatible with my cat’s food?

The feeder has been tested and verified to work with all dry food pellet shapes of up to 9mm in diameter, which makes up for the majority of traditional cat food pellets. The feeder cannot be used with wet food.

How do I know how many portions to set, so that the meal size matches what my cat eats currently?

Start with an empty dish. Press the nose-shaped button on front of the feeder to dispense 1 portion of food. Repeat, keeping count until you have matched the amount your cat usually eats in 1 meal. You now know how many portions are in a single meal, so you can start adding meals to the feeding plan.

If your cat is on a diet plan, weigh the food to match what they are allowed to eat.

How do I set up a feeding plan?

First, make sure you have installed the free Catit PIXI app.  In the app, select ‘Add feeding plan’. Next, tap ‘add meal’, set a time and define the number of portions that should be dispensed.

By default, the same feeding schedule will be repeated every day. You can make the feeder skip a certain day of the week by tapping the first letters of that day at the top of your screen. The weekly schedule will be repeated indefinitely unless deactivated.

How do I determine the right amount of food portions / feeding plan for my cat?

Step 2.
Plug the adapter into an electrical socket. The feeder will turn on automatically.

If you experience problems connecting your feeder to your PIXI app, read on.

Solution 1
Since the feeder doesn’t support 5 GHz Wi-Fi, please make sure your Wi-Fi is 2.4 GHz. For most routers, this will happen automatically. If not, please read your router’s manual for more information.

Solution 2
Move your smartphone or tablet as well as the feeder closer to the network router so you are most definitely within range of the Wi-Fi signal.

Some more information for the tech-savvy
There are two ways to connect the Catit PIXI Smart Feeder to your Wi-Fi / wireless router. Press the triangular button at the front of the feeder (shaped like a cat’s nose) for 5 seconds to switch between modes:

Smartlink mode (rapidly blinking LED): If your smartphone is connected to Wi-Fi, the app will retrieve and broadcast the router’s Wi-Fi info (SSID and password) in an encrypted way. The PIXI Smart Feeder will decrypt this and connect to the router directly.

AP mode (slow blinking LED): Select the PIXI Smart Feeder’s signal from your mobile phone’s Wi-Fi / WLAN list. Once the connection is established, the app can connect to the PIXI Smart Feeder using your wireless router info (SSID and password).

Can I add multiple devices to my app?

Yes, you can connect multiple fountains and feeders to the same app. After you’ve added a device, it will show up in the device overview.
Tip: Easily keep track of all your Catit PIXI smart items by giving each device a unique name.

How do I change my device’s name?

Open the app and select the device that you would like to rename. Next, tap on the cog in the top right corner. You can now rename your device.

Does the app work on my iPad / Android tablet?

Yes. Even though the app was developed specifically for smartphone, it can be downloaded onto your iPad or Android tablet.

The food reservoir is nearly empty (less than 10% of full capacity), but this is not mentioned in the app and I’m not getting any notifications on my phone.

First, make sure notifications for the PIXI app are enabled in your phone settings. Note that cat food contains various oils that can accumulate on the sensor window over time, blocking it. Simply remove all food from the reservoir and clean the sensor window, which is located near the bottom. Next, place the reservoir back onto the motor block, but don’t fill it just yet. Wait for a few minutes until the PIXI app informs you that the feeder is out of food. Now that you’re sure that everything works just fine, fill the reservoir with dry food and screw the lid back on.

I get multiple notifications for each meal served, why is that?

This only occurs when your internet connection is unstable. Even though you have received multiple notifications, the meal will only be served once, as scheduled.

How do I refill the Catit PIXI Smart Feeder?

Simply open the top lid by rotating it counterclockwise, and pour dry cat food into the reservoir. Place the lid back on and rotate it clockwise until you feel it lock into place. Immediately after filling the reservoir, press the nose button a few times to make sure the food pellets travel all the way down to the dispenser. This will ensure food is dispensed correctly in the first few feedings.

How do I open the lid of the feeder?

Simply open the top lid by rotating it counterclockwise, and pour dry cat food into the reservoir. Place the lid back on and rotate it clockwise until you feel it lock into place.

How do I insert backup batteries?

On the bottom of the device is a battery compartment. Open it using a Phillips screwdriver, and insert 4x C/LR14 batteries (not included). These provide power to the feeder (approx. 58 hours on average) in case of a network power failure. Put the lid back on and screw it closed.

I just filled the feeder, but no food is coming out. What do I do?

Immediately after filling the reservoir, press the nose button a few times to make sure the food pellets travel all the way down to the dispenser. Otherwise, your cat’s bowl might stay empty the first few feedings.

Why is my PIXI Smart Feeder making a continuous noise?

This noise occurs when your feeder is exclusively powered by the backup batteries, and the voltage of the batteries is too low. We strongly recommend keeping the feeder plugged in at all times, only using the batteries as back-up power source.

If my internet connection fails, will the feeder continue serving meals as scheduled?

If you have successfully set up a feeding plan when your internet connection was still live, the feeder will continue to serve meals as scheduled, even when the internet is down.

How do I turn on the sound on the Catit PIXI Smart Feeder?

You can enable audio by toggling the slider in the app settings. With audio enabled, a beeping sound will notify your cat when food has been served.

My cat is a binge eater, can I use the feeder to make them eat slower?

If your cat tends to eat too quickly, we recommend scheduling multiple small feedings to be dispensed over 15 minutes. This will help slow down your cat’s eating pace.
