Cat plants & flowers quiz
Do you know which plants are dangerous for cats,
and which ones are great fun? Take our quiz to find out!
Lilies are extremely toxic to cats
YOU’RE RIGHT!
SORRY, YOU’VE GOT IT WRONG…
Unfortunately, lilies are extremely dangerous to cats. It’s the pollen that’s the trickiest because it can super easily end up on your cat’s fur and be ingested when grooming. Even a very small amount of pollen is enough to cause kidney failure, so if you have any lilies in your home or garden, get rid of them straight away!
Cats don’t respond to all types of catnip
YOU’RE RIGHT!
SORRY, YOU’VE GOT IT WRONG…
True catnip (Nepeta cataria) blooms white and packs plenty of nepetalactone, the feel-good compound that sends cats into happy mode. Nepeta faasseni may have pretty violet flowers, but it’s significantly less powerful. Want to make your cat happy? Go for Nepeta cataria.
Catnip isn’t the only plant that drives cats nuts
YOU’RE RIGHT!
SORRY, YOU’VE GOT IT WRONG…
While catnip is the most popular one, there are definitely other plants that let your cat feel euphoric. These include valerian root, silver vine, and Tatarian honeysuckle.
Cat grass is a type of grass specifically developed for cats
YOU’RE RIGHT!
SORRY, YOU’VE GOT IT WRONG…
While cat grass isn’t a type of grass engineered to be great for your feline friend, it also isn’t the type of grass you’ll find in your yard. The cat grass you buy in stores is usually a mixture of rye, barley, oat, wheat and alfalfa. Sounds tasty, right?
Spider plants are fun and safe for cats
YOU’RE RIGHT!
SORRY, YOU’VE GOT IT WRONG…
The spider plant is great 2-in-1 plant for cats. Its leaves are safe for cats to nibble on, and the plant produces offshoots that whimsically dangle from the mother plant — perfect for your feline friend to bat at! Just don’t forget to cut away any flowers the plant forms, as these can be poisonous to cats.
