Planting Guide

1. Take the bowl out of the base and remove the grid cover.
2. Pour the bag of vermiculite into the bowl.
3. Spread the seeds evenly over the vermiculite surface. Do not mix.
4. Add 1/2 cup (125ml) of water.
5. Replace the grid cover.
6. Place the bowl back into the base.
7. Attach the mat.
8. Water every so often. After a few days, the grass is ready.

Best practices to keep in mind

  • Keep the Grass Planter at ambient temperature near a light source.
  • Add water according to your local environmental conditions. Consider when and how much water is given at any point in time, as overwatering will cause mold or fungi growth.
  • Push the grid cover down every once in a while, as the growing grass can push it up.

Pro trick for growing more cat grass

As with all living things, some seeds need a little more help than others. These steps may be a bit more effort than our standard planting guide, but we have found they help increase the sprouting rate.

1. As a first step, fill the base with water and allow the seeds to soak overnight.
2. Cover the bowl with a sheet of paper towel.
3. Rinse and pour the seeds into the bowl to let dry for a few hours.
4. Afterwards, keep the seeds moist with a wet paper towel or spray bottle.
5. Keep at it until the seeds have sprouted. Lift them out by holding the paper towel by its corners.
6. Pour the bag of vermiculite into the bowl.
7. Next, add the sprouted seeds onto the vermiculite surface as you would normally. Spread evenly and do not mix.
8. Replace the grid cover and place the bowl back into the base.
9. Attach the mat.
10. Water every so often. After a few days, the grass is ready.
