The origins
The Wedge LIVE! Cat Tour first took place in 2017, when John Edwards, inspired by local history walking tours and the many cats he spotted in neighborhood windows, joked about hosting a cat tour. Encouraged by the idea, he mapped out a route that passed a few cat-loving households, and what began as a small gathering of only 30 people quickly grew into a beloved annual community event.
Cats in the spotlight
People living in the Wedge neighborhood can sign up to have their cat be part of the cat tour. Many cat owners decorate their homes and put up signs so participants know where to look to spot a cat. Some cat owner even take their feline outside to let the crowd pet and admire them. And then there are some participants who take their cat with them on the walk. Some cats will ride on their human’s shoulder like a parrot, while others prefer to sit safely in a pet stroller.

Cat lovers galore!
Ever since the Wedge LIVE! Cat Tour made national US news, interest has skyrocketed. The 2025 edition united over 500 cat lovers, with one woman wearing a t-shirt reading “I traveled 2000 miles to see your cats”. The next edition is scheduled to take place on Wednesday June 24, 2026, so you know what date to mark on your calendar!
