The contest welcomes cat lovers internationally, subject to the eligibility requirements in the Rules & Regulations. You must be the sole creator of your artwork and have reached the age of majority in your country of residence.
Not at all! Beginners, hobbyists and experienced artists are welcome. You don’t need formal training to enjoy creating something inspired by cats.
Cats! Their beauty, character, funny habits and the bond you share can all be starting points. Let your own style and imagination guide you.
No, photography is not an accepted art medium for this contest. If you have an artistic photo of your cat, we encourage you to submit it to our Kings & Queens gallery.
A photograph used to show your handmade artwork is allowed, of course.
No. This contest celebrates artwork created using non-digital materials and techniques. Digital drawings, digital paintings and artwork created wholly or partly using AI are not eligible.
Yes! We’d love to welcome you back. However, you must submit an original artwork that has not been entered in a previous edition of the contest.
You don’t need a professional camera! A smartphone will do just fine. Follow these simple tips:
- Photograph your artwork straight on: Photograph paintings and drawings straight on to avoid distortion. For three-dimensional artwork, choose an angle that clearly shows its shape and details.
- Use natural light: Take your photo in a bright spot without harsh shadows or reflections.
- Keep the background simple: Make sure your artwork is the star of the photo!
- Show the entire artwork: Don’t crop off any part of it.
- Keep it sharp: Make sure your photo is clear and in focus.
- On iPhone: Open the photo in Photos and tap the information (i) button.
- On Android: Open the photo in your gallery and look for Details or Info.
- On a computer: Right-click the file and select Properties (Windows) or Get Info (Mac).
- Look for the file size in MB or KB, rather than the image dimensions in pixels.
Your photo must be 7 MB or smaller. If it’s too large, you can:
- On iPhone: Open the photo in the Preview app, if available, and use the image size or export options to make a smaller copy.
- On Android: Open your photo in your gallery or photo editor and look for a Resize or Compress option.
- On a computer: Open your photo in an image editor and reduce the image dimensions or export it at a lower quality.
Save a separate copy so you keep the original, and check that the smaller version still shows your artwork clearly.
