Cleaning the PIXI Stainless Steel UV-C Fountain
The Catit PIXI Stainless Steel UV-C Fountain is easy to clean and maintain.
The stainless steel reservoir and tray, as well as the filter tray, can be cleaned using water and mild dish soap with a soft cloth or sponge. Clean them regularly and thoroughly, preferably weekly, to prevent limescale buildup. Only use non-abrasive cleaning agents, and rinse thoroughly until no residue remains.
Note that only the stainless steel parts are dishwasher-safe.
A deep cleaning of all parts is recommended once a month, or more frequently, depending on the number of pets using the fountain or if it becomes frequently dirty.
Warning: Always unplug the fountain from the electrical wall socket with dry hands before putting on or taking off parts and whenever the pump is being installed, maintained, or handled.
Step 1.
Unplug the pump power cable before removing the pump from the electronic unit.
The Type-C charging port, DC socket, and pump DC port must not get wet under any circumstances. They must be completely dry before powering on the device to avoid damage.
Step 2.
Remove the grey connector tube from the electronic unit. Clean the tube with the small cleaning brush included with the fountain.
Step 3.
To disassemble the pump, first remove the pump cover. Take out the sponge and set it aside.
IMPORTANT: The pump of the Catit PIXI UV-C Stainless Steel Fountain contains a small sponge. Do not discard the sponge as it is essential for optimal performance. To clean it, thoroughly rinse it under the tap, then place it back in its holder.
Step 4.
Next, remove the impeller cap. You can use the pump cover to help leverage the cap open more easily.
Step 5.
Using a set of tweezers, remove the impeller from the impeller shaft.
Step 6.
Rinse each part of the pump under running water. Use the small cleaning brush included with the fountain to access hard-to-reach areas.
Step 7.
Reassemble the pump by following the reverse sequence: first reinsert the impeller, then the impeller cap, the pump cover and lastly the sponge.
Step 8.
Shake and rinse the filter thoroughly to remove any impurities. The efficacy of the filter depends on water quality and usage. Replace the filter after about one month of continuous use, or when it becomes visibly saturated.
Step 9.
Reassemble the electronic module by first inserting the grey connector tube. Make sure to align the pump with the electronic unit as you plug it back into the unit.
