Step 4 of 5 – Connecting your PIXI Vision Smart Feeder to the PIXI app

Preparations

Before proceeding, please make sure you set up your PIXI Vision Smart Feeder as described in steps 1 to 3.

Let’s get started!
Follow all steps below for a seamless setup, or jump to a specific step by selecting it in the list below.

4.1 Adding the PIXI Vision Smart Feeder in the app

First of all, please ensure your smartphone is connected to your home Wi-Fi network. To add your PIXI Smart device, tap the ‘+’ button.

Note: Before you head on to the next step, make sure your PIXI Vision Smart Feeder is plugged in and located right next to your wireless internet router. You can of course choose to relocate your Catit PIXI Smart device after you’ve established the connection.

After you select the Catit PIXI Smart Vision Feeder in the device list, tap ‘next’.

tap the '+' button
tap the 'next' button.

4.2 Connecting to Wi-Fi

The white (or blue) LED light on your PIXI Vision Smart Feeder should be blinking slowly. If not, please press the button at the side of the feeder for 5 seconds or until the LED light starts to blink slowly. Once this is the case, tap ‘next’.

Now, the app will ask you to connect your smartphone to your home Wi-Fi network. If you haven’t done this yet, please connect to the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz home Wi-Fi network.

Connecting to Wi-Fi

Once your phone is connected to the Wi-Fi network, it’s time to connect the feeder wirelessly to your phone. Make sure to connect the feeder to the same Wi-Fi network as your phone (Same SSID and password). Hold the QR code on your phone screen in front of the feeder camera lens (which sits integrated in the cat nose) at about 10 cm / 4 inches distance. Or, easier yet, use the end of the feeding tray as a reference point. Once the feeder has successfully scanned the QR code, you will hear a beep. If the code won’t scan straight away, move your smartphone screen around ever so slightly.

Once you hear the beep, press ‘I heard the confirmation sound’ in the app.
As a result, the configuration process will start. This can take up to 3 minutes to complete.

Please make sure that:

  • the LED light is blinking slowly (if not, press and hold the button at the side of your PIXI Vision Smart Feeder for 5+ seconds, or until you notice the LED light has started to blink slowly.)
  • the camera lens on the feeder isn’t obstructed
  • you hold your phone screen in slightly different angles and distances in front of the feeder lens.

4.3 Still not able to connect? Use AP mode

If you didn’t manage to connect your PIXI Vision Smart Feeder to the app using the method described above, you can either retry, or tap the ‘AP Mode’ button.

After you tapped the ‘AP Mode’ button on your screen, check if the light on the side is blinking slowly . If not, press and hold the button at the side of your PIXI Vision Smart Feeder for 5+ seconds, or until you notice the LED light has started to blink slowly.

Important: Make sure your phone is still connected to your home Wi-Fi network. Only connect to the ‘Smartlifexxxx’ Wi-Fi after this is requested in the app. Connecting to the ‘Smartlifexxxx’ Wi-Fi too soon will cause the connection to fail.

To connect to the ‘Smartxxxx’ Wi-Fi network, go to the Wi-Fi settings in your phone.

The connection process can take up to 3 minutes

If you enabled notifications in the PIXI app, you’ll receive a notification when your feeder was successfully added to the app. Tap the notification to return to the app.

If no notification popped up (because notifications are disabled for the PIXI app), please go back to the PIXI app after successfully connecting to ‘Smartxxxx’.

Now, make sure to return to your PIXI app to finalize the process!
