Most cats end up in shelters because of behavioral issues

YOU’RE RIGHT!

According to a study conducted in several Australian shelters, only 4% of relinquished cats were given up because of behavioral problems. It seems like most people part from their furry pets – sometimes against their will – due to housing issues, like not being allowed to have pets or a lack of space. So, if you’re planning to move in the distant future, always check if your snuggle bug can come with you!

Adopting two cats is better than adopting one

YOU’RE RIGHT!

Since cats – mostly young kittens – learn valuable lessons from other felines, it might be a good idea to adopt two cats at once. That way, your kitty won’t get lonely either and may adapt quicker to the new environment. And no, adopting two cats doesn’t equal a duplication of work or investment, as your furry buddies will probably eat around the same time and use the same cat products. It will only double the fun!

Most shelter cats are black

YOU’RE RIGHT!

The reason is simple: black is the most common coat color among cats because of a dominant gene. So, most kitties are simply black, outside of shelters as well. Furthermore, black cats used to be less likely to get adopted, probably due to the belief that they would bring bad luck. Fortunately, this trend seems to have changed over recent years, thanks to the invalidation of such myths and global black cat promotions.

Cats can learn to get along with new housemates

YOU’RE RIGHT!

Even though some kitties can be quite territorial, many eventually give in to the charms of a feline companion. Or they learn how to tolerate each other, at least. Research found that the method of introduction doesn’t make that big of a difference in accepting each other, but meeting gradually may cause less stress for your furry friends. With our tips, they may even become best friends for life!
