Cats don’t experience jet lag

YOU’RE RIGHT!

Cats are creatures of habit, and just like us, they can experience a kind of jet lag. While humans usually show jet lag through difficulty sleeping or staying awake, our feline friends seem to be affected most when their feeding schedule is disrupted, making them hangry.

Félicette was the first cat to travel all the way to space

YOU’RE RIGHT!

On October 18, 1963, a black-and-white cat from Paris named Félicette made history as she was the first feline to be launched into space. The brave cat-stronaut stayed up there for about 13 minutes before safely landing back on Earth. After her big adventure, Félicette became a bit of a star, and in 2019, more than 50 years after her death, she received her own statue at the International Space University in Strasbourg, France.

There’s a Guinness World Record for the longest human tunnel traveled through on a skateboard by a cat

YOU’RE RIGHT!

We really couldn’t make this one up! On February 9, 2017, a Bengal cat named Boomer skated through a tunnel formed by 13 people standing with their legs apart. Boomer could easily have set an even bigger record, as when he left the human tunnel, he just kept on going. Nice work, Boomer!

In the EU, all pet cats get their own passport

YOU’RE RIGHT!

If you live in the European Union, your pet cat can have their very own passport. This little booklet, issued by a vet during the animal’s first visit, includes identification details, information about whether your cat has been spayed or neutered, a complete record of their vaccinations, and microchip information. Cats traveling into or within the EU must have a valid passport and be microchipped.

In 2024, a cat was accidentally shipped in an Amazon box

YOU’RE RIGHT!

Galena, a calico cat from Utah, survived being shipped all the way across the USA to California after sneaking into a cardboard box. An Amazon employee discovered the poor feline inside a return package after she had been in transit for six days without food or water. Luckily, she was completely unharmed, albeit a little skinnier.
