Most domestic cats dislike water, but that doesn’t mean they can’t swim—in fact, some even enjoy it. Our pet cat’s big cousin, the tiger, for example, is an excellent swimmer that loves being in the water. Fun fact: when cats swim, they doggy paddle.

SORRY, YOU’VE GOT IT WRONG…

Cats can jump up to 12 times their own body length

YOU’RE RIGHT!

While cats are amazing jumpers, they can ‘only’ leap up to about 6 times their body length. The current Guinness World Record for the longest jump by a cat is 2.58 m (8 ft 5 in), achieved by Oscar in Dallas, Texas, USA, on February 26, 2025.
